9 Best Local SEO Software Tools to Rank Your Business (2022)

Written by Cody

Updated: Jun 22, 2022

Breaking through on a local market can be done in any number of ways. A business can try all traditional methods, such as cold calling or word-of-mouth; it’s inexpensive, but it also takes years to start working. Digital marketing is much faster and more dependable, but not all companies sit on thousands of dollars that can be spent on marketing alone.

That’s why I wanted to take you through the best local SEO software solutions that the current market has to offer. These are the programs and platforms that can elevate your business at a reasonable price, but best of all – you get a say in every part of the SEO process.

What Are The Local SEO Software Solutions?

Here is my list of the best local SEO tools in 2022.

1. Bright Local

Overview

Bright Local is remarkably popular and backed by thousands of respected brands; it’s not just its credibility that checks out, as it was earned through premium-quality services, which this platform offers in abundance.

Focusing on Local SEO for the time being, Bright Local allows businesses to scan their region for competitors with a comprehensive local search grid feature. The rank tracker further expands upon the search grid, building a list of competitors based on performance, visibility, traffic, and similar parameters.

Furthermore, Bright Local offers two auditing tools, including Local Search Audit, and Google My Business Audit. By using both, companies can get customized SEO optimization recommendations and get an edge over their contemporaries.

The final piece of the puzzle is the Citation Tracker feature, which offers insight into the pricing models and parameters of competing businesses.

Aside from local SEO, Bright Local also offers reputation management, white-labeling, and lead generation tools.

Key Features

  • Local Search Grid
  • Local Rank Tracker
  • Citation Tracker
  • Local Search Audit
  • Google My Business Audit
  • Reputation management tools
  • White-labeling
  • Lead generation

Pricing

Bright Local offers three subscription plans, including Single Business at $29 per month; Multi Business at $49 per month, and SEO Pro at $79 per month. Committing to annual subscriptions offers two months’ worth of free subscriptions across all packages.

What I Like / Dislike About Bright Local

Bright Local is an all-in-one local SEO tool. It can give you detailed information about what your competitors are doing so that you can adjust your local SEO strategy and actions within weeks. It’s got it all, from citation tracking, over grid tracking, and rank lists, to Google and local audits.

Bright Local is pretty good for small businesses, if you want to manage three locations tops, that is. The Multi Business plan only doubles the supported locations while SEO Pro is what companies should generally shoot for, but it’s quite expensive.

Who Is This For?

Given how efficient Bright Local’s solutions are, I would say that it’s a perfect option for businesses of any size. I warmly recommend the Multi-Business plan, as it’s far more comprehensive than the basic subscription.

2. Whitespark

Overview

Whitespark is often compared to Bright Local, as both provide tremendously powerful local SEO tools and flexible pricing options. Whitespark takes a slightly different approach, enabling businesses to launch campaigns with its software right after optimizing the website.

These campaigns provide companies with the means to narrow down the focus of tracking parameters to competitors in the region of each business location of the user. It’s a slightly convoluted but remarkably efficient way of ensuring local website dominance.

A thorough analysis of competing websites, encompassing citations, SEO ranking, and reviews is the highlight of Whitespark’s feature suite. This software provides everything a company needs to leverage reliable data and climb regional rankings.

Key Features

  • Competitor comparison tool
  • Comprehensive analysis of competing websites
  • Progress tracking and citation monitoring functions
  • Review checker
  • Google Review Link generator
  • Local SEO checklist

Pricing

Whitespark offers four subscription packages, including Small Business at $39 per month; Specialist at $49 per month; Agency at $59 per month, and Enterprise at $149 per month. A free version is also available with three searches per day, a single supported campaign, and limited search results.

What I Like / Dislike About Whitespark

I love how branched out Whitespark is. This software provides the tools needed to scan competing websites, optimize local SEO accordingly, and immediately launch marketing campaigns while the iron is still hot.

The free version is a bonus, but I would rather call it a “trial” version. In all honesty, your business won’t get far with three searches per day, especially given the fact that the incoming results are fairly limited.

Who Is This For?

Just like Bright Local, Whitespark is for companies of all sizes. Simply pick the subscription that fits your company’s needs and budget.

The Small Business plan is basically for entrepreneurs, so consider the Specialist package to be its small-business equivalent. For medium-sized businesses, shoot for the Agency pack while larger corporations and brands should try Enterprise out.

3. SEMrush Listing Management Tool

Overview

With dozens of accolades under its belt, SEMrush is easily one of the most trustworthy SEO companies. Its Listing Management Tool was specifically designed to boost the local search rankings of any company, sporting an array of unique features and a broad range of traditional SEO tools.

The Local Heatmap helps businesses see their performance on Google Map results. Another interesting tool in SEMrush’s listing management assortment is voice search optimization. This feature allows companies to optimize their quotes and offerings for voice-based searches.

Reputation and feedback management, a streamlined Google Profile updating method, and progress tracking are among other notable features of the SEMrush listing management tool.

Key Features

  • User suggestions and reputation management features
  • Progress and review tracking
  • Voice search local SEO optimization
  • Local Heatmap (integrates with Google Maps)
  • Access to other SEMrush features with any premium subscription

Pricing

SEMrush listing management is an additional add-on that can be purchased and paid for on top of your monthly SEMrush plan. The Basic Location package costs $20 per month and does not include Local Heatmap and Response to Review features; these tools are a part of the Premium Location plan, which costs an additional $40 per month ($60 monthly in total).

What I Like / Dislike About SEMrush Listing Management Tool

The uniqueness of this tool is what I liked the most. It takes a different approach to optimizing local SEO, and it’s one of the few programs that can help you optimize voice-search SEO.

I don’t like the fact that you’ll need to pay triple the price for two additional features. It is understandable that the Local Heatmap, as the most useful and versatile feature of the package, is in the pricier subscription.

Who Is This For?

SEMrush listing management tool is absolutely perfect for smaller brands trying to gain an edge over their contemporaries. Mid-sized companies or smaller ones operating in larger areas may want to consider upgrading to the Premium Location plan.

4. Moz Local

Overview

Originally founded as SEOMoz, Moz Local is one of the oldest SEO service providers on the globe.

Its core services encompass listing management, automatic distribution of location data, and review monitoring. All of these features can be accessed from the main dashboard, which is both easy and intuitive to use.

Medium-sized companies that opt for the Preferred package can use a new function that allows them to instantly reply to reviews and social media posts from the aforementioned dashboard.

Some of the other notable features include continual location data syncing, data cleansing, integrations with Google and Facebook, reputation management, and more.

Key Features

  • Automated listing management
  • Distribution of local data across multiple directories
  • Data cleansing
  • Integrations with Google and Facebook
  • Activity feed and notification alerts
  • Reputation management

Pricing

Moz Local offers three subscription packages, including Lite at $14; Preferred at $20, and Elite at $33 per month.

What I Like / Dislike About Moz Local

What’s best about Moz Local is that some of its finest features are included in the cheapest package. Automated distribution and continuous syncing of location data, as well as listing management, are the tools any business needs to grow their local SEO.

There are no major drawbacks to Moz Local other than the fact that the support for multiple locations is chargeable.

Who Is This For?

Moz Local is phenomenal for small and medium-sized companies while it’s an excellent choice for larger enterprises as well. It’s probably one of the best local SEO software solutions available on the current market.

5. BiQ Cloud

Overview

BiQ Cloud is a smart local SEO solution powered by artificial intelligence technology. The AI enables this platform to leverage a variety of unique features that more traditional SEO services couldn’t. Most notably, it provides users with unique content ideas, tracks keyword relevancy for longer periods, and provides a list of popular questions related to selected keywords.

By combining these three elements, BiQ Cloud’s software suite enables companies to fine-tune their local SEO by gaining insight into highly specific parameters.

Obviously, these metrics are different for each region; by leveraging artificial intelligence tech, BiQ Cloud discerns statistics from more flexible marketing parameters.

In terms of more traditional local SEO features, BiQ Cloud’s suite is equipped with features that generate keywords related to desired words, evaluate the intent of selected keywords, and provide reports in CSV and PDF formats.

Key Features

  • Research of popular questions, keywords, and trends
  • Generates content ideas and semantically related keywords
  • Evaluates keyword strength and value
  • Integrates with Content Intelligence

Pricing

BiQ Cloud offers three subscription packages, including Growth at $55 per month; Advanced at $85 per month, and Professional at $115 per month. By selecting the annual billing method, businesses will get two months’ worth of free subscriptions.

What I Like / Dislike About BiQ Cloud

Combining artificial intelligence with advanced algorithms, BiQ Cloud provides insight into unique metrics and tracks SEO parameters that an average SEO agency would probably skip.

I did not like the limit on researched keywords that you can get per month; it’s not too hard to envision a scenario where you couldn’t use some of them, and when you hit the limit, you will have to perform the research with other tools or services.

Who Is This For?

BiQ Cloud works like a charm for medium-sized businesses and larger enterprises. It’s probably too expensive for a small business to use in the long run, but the benefits it offers are well worth the money.

6. Yext

Overview

Yext is another AI-powered platform, but unlike BiQ Cloud, it is not a dedicated local SEO service/software suite. Yext offers a faster, more concrete way to search for products, acquire detailed analytics regarding customers’ search experiences, monitor and improve reviews, customize web pages, and more.

Yext offers multiple platforms, including Answers, Knowledge Graph, Reviews, Business Listings, Pages, and Analytics.

The Reviews platform essentially replaces the standard keyword search functions with AI-powered ones, effectively replacing hyperlinks with product descriptions, pictures, and additional information.

The Listings platform enables brands to deactivate bad actors (duplicate websites) and manage their listings. The Pages and Analytics are the most comprehensive software suites, providing an array of traditional local SEO tools, such as SEO-based page builder, conversion tracking, and extensive integrations.

Key Features

  • Built-in developer tools
  • Conversion tracking
  • Page builder designed for local SEO
  • Real-time analytics
  • Knowledge assistant

Pricing

Yext offers four subscription plans, all of which are billed weekly. The Emerging package costs $4 per week; the Essential package costs $9 per week; the Complete package costs $10 per week while the Premium package costs $19 per week.

What I Like / Dislike About Yext

Nearly all aspects of Yext are groundbreaking and genuinely innovative. This platform provides actionable solutions to boost a company’s local SEO, conversion rates, and organic traffic, but it also offers comprehensive analytics in real-time.

Although the weekly pricing model may be confusing to some, Yext is among the most affordable local SEO software providers on the market. Even its most expensive (Premium) package costs under $1.000 a year.

The only issue you may have with Yext lies in how vast the platform is. There are many features, most of which you’ve never encountered before, and thus it may not be the easiest platform to navigate.

Who Is This For?

In terms of business size, I would recommend Yext to any company. However, the main criterium should be the ability of in-house staff to operate its features. I believe Yext is ideal for tech-savvy, forward-thinking individuals that have the knowledge and experience to leverage its powerful features.

7. GeoRanker

Overview

GeoRanker is an advanced SEO platform that presents its clients with a multitude of both traditional and innovative features.

The core GeoRanker tools encompass Google Ads audits, local rank tracking, keyword density research, and voice-activated search compatible with Google Voice. This platform analyzes powerful metrics about both competitors and consumers, offering a detailed overview of the top-ranked businesses in the selected region and their SEO performance, as well as ranking data regarding voice answers sourced directly from Google Voice queries.

Key Features

  • Covers local and mobile search engine result pages
  • Provides unlimited tracking and local citation sources
  • Automated reporting
  • Google Ads auditing
  • Keyword prospecting and density scan
  • Local rank checker
  • Provides voice answers ranking data

Pricing

GeoRanker offers three subscription packages, including Pro at $99 per month; Agencies at $249 per month, and Enterprises at $490 per month.

What I Like / Dislike About GeoRanker

GeoRanker is the second local SEO platform that offers Voice Search-based features (the first on the list was Whitespark). This is the type of forward-thinking that can help brands keep up with consumers that shop by speaking into their smartphones, which is an emerging trend that is only going to become more popular.

Its local rank tracking and keyword-based tools are quite robust and well designed. From keyword prospecting, over local citation sources, to unlimited tracking and automated reporting, this platform does it all. The only downside of GeoRanker is its expensiveness.

Who Is This For?

GeoRanker is an excellent choice for growing companies that want to both climb the ladder and scale their growth. Though expensive, it should be affordable enough for most mid-sized businesses (and higher tiers).

8. Grid My Business

Overview

Grid My Business is an affordable local SEO program that specializes in providing rapid and accurate local search results.

True to its name, the results come out in the form of a grid, which is remarkably easy to read; furthermore, it provides businesses with a clean interface where they can see more details about competing websites, their SEO performance, and other relevant information about competitors.

What separates Grid My Business from contemporary SEO companies is that it offers unlimited search queries and report data exports. The program utilizes credits, which are refreshed each month and can be used on various analytics-oriented tasks.

Another unique thing about Grid My Business is that users can set custom grid sizes; better said, there are 7 grid size options to choose from, regardless of which subscription you’ve chosen.

This platform also offers a Grid My Business ranking system, which is updated daily and tracks the local SEO progress of the user’s company and its competitors. Scheduled scans, on-demand reports, as well as white label reports are some of the other notable features of GMB.

Key Features

  • Unlimited search queries and data report exports
  • Up to 612 monthly scans
  • 7 grid size options
  • Settable custom scan range
  • Scheduled scans
  • Ranking and competitor monitoring tools
  • White label and on-demand GBM report

Pricing

Grid My Business offers three subscription plans, including Venture at $29 per month; Agency at $69 per month, and Franchise at $89 per month.

What I Like / Dislike About Grid My Business

Grid My Business boasts impressive coverage of roughly 256 countries and supports up to 612 monthly scans, which basically means that you can re-scan the market at least a dozen times a day to keep tabs on your competition.

All features are unlocked across all subscription packages, and you can even set a custom grid size for a clearer overview. It only lacks keyword-related tools to be considered among the best local SEO software solution.

Who Is This For?

If you’ve done your homework and optimized the keywords in your content, you’ll find Grid My Business as invaluable help. It is equally suited for businesses of all sizes.

9. Surfer Local

Overview

Surfer Local is a local SEO platform designed to increase website visibility, browse competitors’ citations, grab Google reviews in mere moments, and track the ranking progress of the user’s company.

The Google Audit is the core feature of Surfer Local, detailing everything the website needs to do before it can skyrocket in popularity and Google ranking lists. To ensure the website is moving upward, the Local Rank Tracker tool can be quite helpful, presenting the user with an accurate list of competitors and their current Google positions.

Another notable feature of Surfer Local is the Google Review Poster, which provides a direct way to see and use Google reviews.

Key Features

  • Google Business Audit
  • Local rank tracker
  • Google Reviews Poster
  • Local Business Citations

Pricing

Surfer Local charges $29 per active location per month. If the company commits to the annual billing method, the price is $24.17 per month per active location.

What I Like / Dislike About Surfer Local

One of the best things about Surfer Local is its simplicity. The features it provides are powerful and remarkably easy to use.

The fixed pricing model is not necessarily a drawback for entrepreneurs, but for businesses with multiple locations, it’s far more expensive than any package we’ve mentioned so far.

Who Is This For?

Surfer Local is ideal for small businesses that want to optimize local SEO of a single location.

Wrap Up

In this article, I have shown you some of the finest SEO tools, apps, and platforms that the current market has to offer.

The best local SEO software solution refers to a program or a platform that can help you rank your business reliably. This means that you should either search for software that provides automated reports, comprehensive Google audits, and accurate competitor tracking tools.

Consider your budget, the size of your business, and the number of supported locations before making the final decision.
