Have you ever wondered what your old family photos would look like if they were captured with today’s equipment? The same question can be asked about some of the first photos you uploaded to Facebook years ago. The answer is simple – you can use an AI image upscaler app and breathe new life into pictures with poor resolution.

I’ve decided to make a list of the best AI image upscaler programs, so that forward-thinking business owners, entrepreneurs, and social media content creators can market old ideas and polish old content.

Without any further ado, let’s dive straight into the reviews.

What Are the Best AI Image Upscaler Tools?

With so many image upscalers to choose from it can be hard to decide which one to go with. That being said, here is my list of the best AI image upscalers of this year.

1. StockPhotos Upscaler

Verdict: Best Overall

Overview

StockPhotos Upscaler is in my opinion the best AI image upscaler currently on the market. If you want an easy-to-use web-based app, credits as cheap as $0.10 per upscale and high-quality output up to 8x, the StockPhotos Upscaler is for you.

What’s great about this upscaler is that it’s not only easy to use but also sports additional features. For example, when upscaling an image you can choose to increase the resolution to either 2x, 4x, or 8x its original size.

Furthermore, you can define a smoothing element to the image you’re upscaling for optimal output. This upscaler recognizes that each image is different and sometimes you’ll need to slightly tweak the way the upscaler enhances an image. Therefore, it gives you three options to choose from:

  • High Fidelity
  • Artifact Removal
  • Ironed Out

Some styles work better for faces or pets, and others work better for anime or illustration-based images.

Lastly, StockPhotos Upscaler is incredibly versatile in that you can access its API and upscale images for Amazon, Shopify, WooCommerce, and PrestaShop at scale.

Overall, I think this tool has all the features that you should need in image upscale software and doesn’t require you to learn a brand-new piece of software. StocksPhotos Upscaler allows you to get the results you want fast, for a great price.

Key Features

  • Increase resolution by 2x, 4x, or 8x
  • 3 smoothing options: artifact removal, ironed out, and high fidelity
  • Drag and drop web-based interface
  • Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP formats
  • Unused upscale only expire after 12 months
  • Batch uploads
  • Live chat support

Pricing

StockPhotos Upscaler has 2 paid pricing plans:

  • Standard: This provides you with 20 upscales and costs $7. This is a one-time fee and upscales only expire after 12 months.
  • Premium: This provides you with 100 upscales and costs $15. This is a one-time fee and upscales only expire after 12 months.

You can also signup to their free plan and receive 3 upscales to test out the tool.

What I Like / Dislike About StockPhotos Upscaler

I love the fact StockPhotos Upscaler is easy to use and you don’t need to pay a recurring monthly fee. Some upscalers require you to renew your subscription every month regardless of whether you used all your credits but with this tool, you can simply purchase credits in batches of 20 or 100 and use them throughout the year.

Its drag and drop feature is easy to use and the resolution increase of 2, 4, or 8 times is among some of the best enhancements available for AI image upscalers.

The only thing that could be improved in my opinion is to add more features to the tool (perhaps something like AI image reconstruction) to make it more encompassing.

Who Is This For?

StockPhotos Upscaler is the best AI image upscaler in my opinion for practically anyone who wants to improve the quality of their images. If you want to upscale images quickly and at a high quality, this tool is for you.

Cody’s Take

StockPhotos Upscaler is my top choice for the best AI image upscaler. It has everything that you would want in an upscaler including an easy-to-use interface, up to 8x resolution increase, low-cost pricing, no monthly subscriptions, and even an API that you can plug into. Try out their free version and receive 3 free upscales to test it out yourself.

2. Gigapixel AI

Verdict: Runner Up

Overview

Gigapixel AI is a good runner up as one of the best AI image upscalers I’ve come across. It’s a desktop app so you don’t have the convenience of just dragging and dropping an image onto a webpage. However, the superior upscale quality helps make up for that.

Gigapixel AI is extremely detailed in the way that it can upscale an image. Everything from animal fur and bird feathers to cityscapes and landscapes can be rendered with absolute clarity.

You can also use this tool to remove close-up compression artifacts so that if you’re using a photo for print it will be high enough quality.

Additionally, some major players in the industry use Gigapixel AI to enhance the quality of their imagery. For example, Netflix, Apple, Disney, Nasa, and Nike are just a few of the clients that have utilized this technology.

Gigapixel AI is available as a standalone product but can also play nice with Abode Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. This makes it easy to get started with upscaling your images.

Key Features

  • Increase resolution by 600%
  • Standalone software (can be integrated with Photoshop and Lightroom)
  • Face recovery AI technology
  • Removes fuzzy square artifacts
  • Improves textures and sharpness
  • Fixes extreme pixelation
  • Improves image quality for prints

Pricing

Gigapixel AI is priced at a one-time fee of $99. You can also download a free trial of the software and test it out yourself.

What I Like / Dislike About Gigapixel AI

I love the fact that Gigapixel is able to accomplish everything it does in such a high-quality manner. Its AI has been trained on an extensive set of sample images and therefore is able to produce high-quality upscales than competitors.

One thing that might be a downfall for some of the one-time fee of $99. If you’re someone who does need a dedicated image upscaling software and only needs to enhance a couple of images this might not be the best option.

Gigapixel also isn’t the most user-friendly program to upscale your images. There is a learning curve to understanding how this software works and it isn’t as easy as the StockPhotos Upscaler to just drag and drop your images.

Who Is This For?

Gigapixel AI is a great image upscale software solution for professionals that don’t want to pay a per credit or monthly fee to upscale their images. Whether for online or print use, this image upscaler provides a great quality output.

Cody’s Take

If you’re looking for an image upscaler you can use as a standalone app, Gigapixel AI is the product you need. Its software is powerful and can improve image quality by 600%. Although the one-time fee is on the expensive side and there is a bit of a learning curve, this program is still a contender as one of the best AI image upscalers.

Pricing

VanceAI offers three pricing options, including Pay As You Go at $24.99, which provides 200 lifetime-valid credits; Monthly at $12.90 per month, and Annual at $7.74 per month (with a yearly commitment) for 200 credits/month.

What I Like / Dislike About VanceAI

VanceAI provides businesses with all the tools required to bring the most out of any image or picture. Its image-editing studio is there for you to further refine and fine-tune the details to suit your needs. Its pricing options are remarkably flexible, too.

There are no downsides to VanceAI aside from the fact that there are quite a few tools that you’ll need to become familiar with. Even though their individual learning curves aren’t too steep, implementing this program into your workflow may take some time.

Who Is This For?

I recommend VanceAI to anyone searching for innovative, reliable AI upscaling solutions. The brand ensured anyone can afford its services, and the platform’s versatility and robust features ensure they are useful to companies of all sizes.

Cody’s Take

VanceAI offers a suite of various image enhancing features. Everything from an image denoiser, sharpener, enlarger, and more. Their upscaler and scale up to 8x however is quite as advanced as Gigapixel. That being said, they do offer a web app for added convenience. Therefore you don’t need to rely on the CPU of your computer to run the application, which is nice.

4. Icons8 Smart Upscaler

Verdict: Best For Image Storage

Overview

Icons8 Smart Upscaler leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies to provide outstanding image upscaling results. This tool is quite easy to use, and if you don’t mind the brand’s watermarks on your pictures, you don’t have to pay to use it.

The on-page drag & drop interface allows you to quickly upload any image you want to upscale; JPG and PNG formats are supported, and the size limit per file is currently 5 Mb.

The Icons8’s AI-powered suite features an abundance of datasets, comprising thousands of unique photos; APIs for pre-generated photos, a background remover, and the brand’s acclaimed Smart Upscaler.

Images can be enhanced or modified by uploading a file or URL, after which the users will have the ability to tweak various parameters.

The background remover uses the same AI technology, but a different algorithm. You can use this tool before venturing on to upscaling tasks if you want to first edit the photos you want to enhance.

Key Features

  • Advanced AI algorithms
  • Thousands of datasets
  • Enhance and modify images by uploading files or URLs
  • Background remover
  • API integration

Pricing

Icons8 Smart Upscaler is free to use, although the processed images are watermarked. The company offers three pricing options, including the Prepaid Package at $10 for 50 images; Limited Subscription at $9 for 100 images per month, and Unlimited Subscription at $99 per month for unlimited image processing.

What I Like / Dislike About Icons8 Smart Upscaler

It is rare to find a free AI image upscaler as advanced as this. In my humble opinion, Icons8 Smart Upscaler provides outstanding flexibility and yields consistent results.

The best thing about Icons8 Smart Upscaler is the fact that you can also use the platform’s background remover and datasets to completely reshape your brand’s aesthetics.

Even though it is free to use, Icons8 Smart Upscaler’s watermarks are a big hindrance for people that want to use processed images commercially. In such a case, Icons8 is not a free platform, but fortunately, it offers very cheap watermark removal services.

It wouldn’t be fair to say that its API integrations are challenging to use, but you’ll need at least basic coding knowledge to utilize these features. Fortunately, the company provided an abundance of examples in its API-related documents.

Who Is This For?

Icons8 Image Upscaler is free to “try”, technically speaking, as its watermark removal services aren’t. The affordable pricing and high versatility of this tool make it great for businesses of all sizes, as well as entrepreneurs and professional photographers.

Cody’s Take

If you want a straightforward, no-fluff image upscale software tool then Icons8 does a great job. What makes it stand out from others is that it will store your images for up to 60 days and you can integrate its API directly into your app for a seamless upscaling experience.

5. DeepImage

Verdict: Best For Hobbyists

Overview

DeepImage is one of the best AI image upscaler programs for several reasons. First of all, it’s thoroughly streamlined and very easy to use. It may not be the cheapest solution, but its pricing is quite flexible. Moreover, you can upscale the quality of your images up to four times, regardless of your chosen plan.

Background removal and batch image uploads are also available across all packages. You can store processed images for up to a week on DeepImage’s cloud, and re-process them.

Furthermore, you can achieve the “super-resolution” (15k x 15k pixels) with all paid plans. Essentially, the only differences between the pricing packages revolve around priority processing (waiting times) and the number of credits you will be able to use each month.

The on-page drag & drop upscaler is the highlight feature of DeepImage. After you make an account and activate your chosen subscription, you can simply upload your image files (or bulk images); the process is fully automated, although you can make changes by using any of the provided effects.

Key Features

  • Supports image upscaling up to x4 on 15,000 x 15,000 resolution
  • A week’s worth of image storage time
  • Free background removal and batch uploads
  • Sharpen Image effect
  • Integrates with DeepAPI and GoogleDrive
  • On-page drag & drop design

Pricing

DeepImage offers three subscription plans with identical features aside from provided monthly credits, including Bronze at $7.50 per month (100 credits); Silver at $32.50 per month (500 credits), and Gold at $57.50 per month (1,000 credits). A free trial with 5 monthly credits and limited features is also available.

What I Like / Dislike About DeepImage

I can’t emphasize how important GoogleDrive integration is for people that need to upscale dozens of pictures daily. This virtually eliminates the need to find, upload, and process individual images, as you can simply create a collection on GoogleDrive and upload your data in bulk, saving hours, if not days of your time. I also love how easy DeepImage is to use.

The thing I didn’t like as much is the credits-based operation. People that aren’t too familiar with AI image upscaling software probably can’t gauge how many credits they need each month, which may lead them to subscribe to pricier packages.

Who Is This For?

DeepImage is perfect for real estate agents, digital marketing agencies, professional photographers, and pretty much every business that needs high-quality images for commercial use.

Cody’s Take

DeepImage’s upscaler is easy to use and allows you to buy credits that suit your needs so that you’re not left paying extra for something that isn’t being used. Their GoogleDrive integration is great although their Upscaler doesn’t scale up images at highly as some of the others on this list.

6. UpScaler

Overview

UpScaler is a versatile tool comprised of image editing and image upscaling functions. In comparison to the previous two programs, UpScaler is outfitted with the simplest features that are perfect for businesses that want to fine-tune their website graphics to perfection.

The maximum resolution UpScaler supports is 15k x 15k pixels, or in other words, “super-resolution.” Images can be upscaled up to four times in comparison to the original quality and size.

UpScaler is also an image editing tool. With it, you can deblur foggy images, remove the background, or enhance their quality.

One of the most exciting features of UpScaler is the Image Generator. This is an innovative text-to-art technology powered by an AI, which allows you to generate unique images from words.

Key Features

  • Upscaling up to x4
  • Supports JPG, JPEG, and PNG formats
  • Up to 500 images can be processed, upscaled, or enhanced monthly
  • Image deblurring tools
  • AI text-to-art image generator

Pricing

UpScaler offers two subscription plans, including the Subscription at $9 per month, and Advanced at $39 per month. A free trial is also available and is called Test Mode, supporting up to 10 operations per month.

What I Like / Dislike About UpScaler

Even if we were to put the free trial version aside, both subscription packages are very cheap. Furthermore, UpScaler has everything a business may need to create, polish, and refine content, whether it be improving existing images or building new ones from scratch.

There are two downsides that I couldn’t ignore. The first is the onslaught of ads that makes the free trial virtually unusable, and the second is the fact that you can only process up to 50 images with the basic subscription package. The Advanced subscription also imposes a limit on monthly image operations, but it’s 10 times higher in comparison to the standard subscription.

Who Is This For?

Aspiring photographers and small-to-medium-sized businesses could benefit the most from using UpScaler tools. It does an excellent job for the money, but it’s not nearly as sophisticated as some of the other programs in this list.

7. Zyro Upscaler

Verdict: Best Free Option

Overview

Zyro Upscaler is an online AI image upscaler relying on a deep convolutional neural network technology to deliver pristinely clear resized and polished images.

Leveraging numerous datasets comprised of thousands of existing images, Zyro’s Upscaler is capable of selecting the best colors and lighting for each operation, no matter how complex the picture may be. It supports JPG and PNG image formats and ensures lossless image results with these formats exclusively.

Zyro Upscaler is completely free to use and is a part of the Zyro platform, which offers a range of premium digital marketing, website hosting, and social media optimization services.

Key Features

  • Upscaling operations up to x4
  • Supports PNG and JPG formats
  • Deep convolutional neural network technology
  • Online image upscaling

Pricing

Zyro Upscaler is free to use indefinitely.

What I Like / Dislike About Zyro Upscaler

Among dozens of free AI-powered image upscaling programs I’ve encountered in my research, only Zyro and BigJPG are deserving of the title “strong and well-rounded” apps in this field.

Not only is it easy and free to use but it’s also remarkably accurate while recreating colors. Even if you increase the resolution of small images several times, the upscaling operation will still yield a spotless, clean picture; it’s all thanks to its deep convolutional neural network technology and innumerable image datasets.

Given that Zyro Upscaler is one of the few freeware outside of the company’s premium set of tools and services, it is understandable that it is not as advanced or sophisticated as DeepImage, or Icons8 image upscaler apps. Its versatility leaves ample room for improvement.

Who Is This For?

Zyro AI Image Upscaler is perfect for people that may need to upscale a picture or two on a few occasions. I would not recommend it as your go-to image upscale app, but it can get the job done flawlessly without hurting your pocket.

8. BigJPG

Verdict: Best For Anime Images

Overview

BigJPG is a browser-based image upscale software leveraging state-of-the-art AI technologies and algorithms to deliver pristine lossless image quality.

What separates BigJPG from contemporary AI image upscale software is its ability to dramatically enhance image sharpness and color accuracy while removing glitter. This was made possible by the innovative neural network technology BigJPG is using to empower its artificial intelligence tech.

Another important difference between BigJPG and some of the programs we’ve already seen is its ability to upscale images up to sixteen times (as opposed to the standard x4).

Key Features

  • Supports up to 2,000 images per month
  • Upscaling up to 16x
  • Bulk image uploads
  • Drag & drop built-in upscaler
  • Browser-based; Windows, Mac, and Android apps available for download
  • Dedicated enlarging history tab
  • Utilizes neural networks to produce lossless image upscaling results

Pricing

BigJPG is available in free and paid versions. The price is revealed to users with a registered account; BigJPG will prompt you to upgrade to one of the three subscription packages, including Basic (500 images), Standard (1,000 images), and Pro (2,000 images). All versions support up to 16x upscaling, offer a dedicated history tab, and transport users to high-priority queues.

What I Like / Dislike About BigJPG

The free version is pretty great for businesses that mainly use small images. You don’t need an upgrade if you want to upscale images up to 5 Mb. The upgraded version provides you with the enlarging history, bulk processing, and high-priority benefits, all of which I’ve found to be amazing for a freeware upscaler.

The downsides of BigJPG mainly revolve around its free version. It’s slow, and the 5 Mb upload limit is a huge roadblock for images being meant for commercial purposes.

Who Is This For?

If you’re a photography enthusiast, an anime artist, or simply want to see what BigJPG is capable of, I recommend the free version. Upgraded BigJPG is perfectly suited for and intermediate-level photographers and anime enthusiasts.

9. StockPhotos Upscaler

Overview

StockPhotos Upscaler is a simple AI image upscaler equipped with powerful features. It supports upscaling operations up to x8 of the original image resolution, supports various image formats, and provides a convenient history of all upscaling tasks executed via StockPhotos Upscaler.

This tool is among the best AI image upscaler software for social media creators and influencers, as it seamlessly integrates with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

StockPhotos Upscaler is very straightforward to use; its web-based method of operation allows users to upload images they want to polish and upscale online, and then download them just as easily.

Key Features

  • Offers image upscaling up to x8
  • Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP image formats
  • A log detailing last 90 days of operations
  • Three smoothing modes
  • Web-based image upscaling

Pricing

StockPhotos Upscaler offers two pricing options, including Standard (20 upscales) at $7 as a one-time cost, and Premium (100 upscales) at $15 as a one-time cost. A free version is also available with limited features, offering 3 free upscale.

What I Like / Dislike About StockPhotos Upscaler

StockPhotos Upscaler offers simple tools to upscale virtually any image’s resolution at a remarkably cheap price. Aside from affordability, I think Instagram superstars will appreciate its social media integrations, which can be leveraged to spice up old content and publish it as brand-new in the blink of an eye.

Unless you plan on using StockPhotos Upscaler sparsely, you may not find it as cheap, as its priciest subscription offers only 100 upscales which are not renewed monthly. Once you run out of credits, you’ll need to pay the usual fee to replanish credits.

Who Is This For?

StockPhotos Upscaler is great for entrepreneurs and social media content creators. It’s a decent tool to have in your pocket for a marketing campaign or two, but it may not be the ideal long-term solution for larger brands and firms.

10. Img.Upscaler

Overview

Img.Upscaler is an innovative AI image upscaler that I’d dub a “service” rather than a tool. In a nutshell, this program is simple to use, equipped with powerful AI tech, and similar to BigJPG, it uses advanced features to overcome image glitter and bring the full light of individual lines in each file.

Img.Upscaler supports up to x4 upscaling operations and is equally suited for polishing wildlife photos and portraits as it is great at refining anime and cartoon pictures.

Bulk processing is the highlight of Img.Upscaler tool, as users can upload dozens of small-size files and process them simultaneously. What separates this upscale software from its peers is its speed; namely, Img.Upscaler can tackle complex operations and overcome any barriers within seconds.

Key Features

  • Supports up to x4 image upscaling operations
  • Powered by advanced artificial intelligence compatible with Super-Resolution technology
  • Automatically clears data after 24 hours
  • Batch image processing
  • 5 free image upscales per week, regardless of chosen subscription

Pricing

Img.Upscaler offers three subscription options, including the Day Plan at $9; the Monthly plan at $19, and the Yearly plan at $69, all of which are one-time purchases. Monthly and Yearly plans are automatically renewed upon expiration.

What I Like / Dislike About StockPhotos Upscaler

Daily subscriptions are far from common anywhere, especially in the AI image upscaling world. However, this is one of Img.Upscaler’s strongest points. Anyone can access all of its features and use them to their heart’s content for 24 hours.

The best feature of Img.Upscaler is, sadly, plagued by its only drawback, which is advertising pop-ups. Monthly and Yearly subscriptions eliminate them, though, and they’re dirt-cheap, so anyone can afford them.

Who Is This For?

Img.Upscaler is a decent solution for the image upscaling needs of emerging brands and companies. Its features aren’t overly versatile or powerful, but the fact that all plans include all features (at highly approachable fees) affirms my statement that Img.Upscaler is among the best AI image upscaler programs for people on a budget.

11. Waifu2x

Overview

Waifu2x is a simple AI image upscaling app mainly designed to improve the quality of cartoon and anime pictures.

It’s a straightforward online-based image upscaling software that can work with files up to 5 Mb in size and 3k x 3k pixels in resolution while supporting up to x2 image upscaling operations. Just like Zyro Upscaler, Waifu2x uses deep convolutional neural network technology to deliver super-resolution upscaling advantages.

What separates Waifu2x from contemporary AI image upscaling software is its ability to upscale both artwork and photo types of images. Furthermore, users can tweak numerous parameters regarding the upscaling process by selecting the level of upscaling, choosing the style, and the level of noise reduction (artifacts).

Key Features

  • Upscaling operations up to 2x
  • Supports images up to 5 Mb and 3k x 3k pixels
  • Photo and Artwork upscaling style
  • Five levels of noise reduction
  • Instant image download from Waifu2x website
  • Deep convolutional neural networks

Pricing

Waifu2x is a free-to-use AI image upscaling software.

What I Like / Dislike About Waifu2x

I’ll be brief since Waifu2x is easily the simplest AI image upscaler on the market. I love that it’s a free, easy-to-use app, but I’m not thrilled about its features. All programs I’ve listed offer at least x4 upscaling operations while Waifu2x offers only x2 (hence the name).

Who Is This For?

Cartoonists, manga, and anime artists can benefit from Waifu2x the most. There are stronger programs, but this app is, by far, the simplest to use, even if you have zero technical knowledge.

Comparing 4 Image Upscalers

Listing the top image upscalers is the primary purpose of this article. However I wanted to show any of my readers how these tools actually compare. So what I’m going to do is run the same image through 4 different image upscalers and present the differences.

This is the original image I started out with:

Click here for a direct link to the full-sized image

It’s a 512px by 512px image generated by Jasper Art.

For this test, I ran the image above through StockPhotos Upscaler, Gigapixel AI, VanceAI, and Icons8 Upscaler.

First up, here is the output from StockPhotos Upscaler:

Click here for a direct link to the full-sized image

This image is scaled up just 2x and, in my opinion, produced some pretty impressive results. To think that this could be scaled up to 8x is pretty impressive. The upscaler retained a lot of the details in the image and made them clearer to see when zoomed in.

Next, here is the output from Gigapixel AI:

Click here for a direct link to the full-sized image

You can scale images up to 6x with this tool but to keep things fair I only upscaled it by 2x. The result is pretty clear and you can zoom in with minimal fuzziness. I would say that Gigapixel added a bit more brightness to the trees when compared to the StockPhotos Upscaler output but StockPhotos Upscaler does a better job at smoothing out the mountain tops.

Next, here is the result of my VanceAI test:

Click here for a direct link to the full-sized image

The trees in this test are a bit pixelated and if you zoom in things aren’t super clear. However this test was done with the free version and according to VanceAI, images can be scaled up to 8x.

Lastly, this was the result of my Icons8 Smart Upscaler test:

Click here for a direct link to the full-sized image

The output of the Icons8 Smart Upscaler image was the least impressive. The trees in the image were fuzzy and not as sharp as my other two tests.

Overall, I would say the winner here is between StockPhotos Upscaler and Gigapixel AI.

How Does an AI Image Upscaler Work?

AI Image upscalers use algorithms and neural networks designed to improve the quality of low-resolution images. They do this by basically predicting what the image would look like in a higher resolution and then adding new pixels to the image, based on the existing pixels. As a result, the upscaled image is sharper and more detailed than the original.

There are different types of AI image upscalers, but they all work by adding new pixels to the image. The most common type of upscaler is known as a neural network upscaler. Neural networks are designed to mimic the way that the human brain processes images. By training the neural network on a dataset of high-resolution images, it can learn how to add new pixels that improve the quality of the image.

Other types of image upscalers include interpolation-based upscalers and example-based upscalers. Interpolation-based upscalers use mathematical formulas to add new pixels to the image. Example-based upscalers, on the other hand, use a database of high-resolution images to find examples that match the low-resolution image. These examples are then used to generate new pixels for the upscaler.

No matter which type of image upscaler you use, the results can be impressive. With just a few clicks, you can take a low-resolution image and turn it into a high-resolution one that looks nearly indistinguishable from the original, however much clearer.

Use Cases for Image Upscalers

Image upscalers are a handy tool for anyone who works with digital images. Below, I’ve highlighted 3 powerful use cases for them.

1. Enhancing AI-Generated Art

With the advent of powerful artificial intelligence algorithms, there has been a recent explosion of AI-generated art. While some of this art is quite impressive, it often lacks the level of detail and resolution of traditional hand-crafted artwork.

Take for instance the newly released “Jasper Art” feature from the AI writing tool, Jasper. Everyone who has gotten access seems to be really enjoying this new feature however one glaring omission is that images are only 512px by 512px. This makes it almost difficult to use on any sort of print on demand or even as an image on a website.

This is where image upscalers come in handy. By using an image upscaler, you can take an AI-generated image and improve its resolution, making it usable in a wider range of applications.

2. Enlarging Photos for Print

If you’ve ever tried to print out a photo that’s too small, you know that the results can be quite disappointing. The photo may come out blurry or pixelated, making it unsuitable for framing or displaying. Image upscalers can help to solve this problem by increasing the resolution of small photos, making them suitable for print.

3. Restore Old or Damaged Photos

Old photographs are often plagued by poor resolution and damage from age and handling. Image upscalers can help to restore these photos by increasing their resolution and clarity. In addition, upscalers can often remove small imperfections and blemishes, resulting in a photo that looks like new.

Whether you’re trying to preserve family history or simply achieve better-looking prints, image upscalers can be a valuable tool.

Image Upscaler FAQs

What is the best image Upscaler?

The best image upscaler will depend on the specific characteristics of the image being enlarged. Some images upscale better than others, so it is important to choose an upscaler that is well-suited to the type of image you are working with. That being said, I believe StockPhotos Upscaler is the best image upscaler of 2022.

How can I upscale images for free?

Most AI image upscalers offer some sort of free plan for upscaling images. That’s usually in the form of a few credits per month. However, you can also use a tool like Zyro Upscaler which is free to use indefinitely.

How do I upscale a JPEG?

Many of the AI image upscalers on this list support JPEG upscaling. Feel free to use StockPhotos Upscaler, Deep Image, or UpScaler.

How do I enlarge a low resolution image?

There are a couple of ways to enlarge a low resolution image without losing too much quality. One way is to use software like Photoshop or GIMP to upsample the image, which essentially means adding more pixels. This can help to smooth out the edges and make the image look less blocky. However, I recommend using one of the AI image upscalers mentioned in this article as your results will likely be much better.

Final Thoughts

I believe that StockPhotos Upscaler is the best AI image upscaler currently on the market. For the price, convenience of the web-based app, features, and live support you get the best bang for your buck. That being said, every tool has its own list of pros and cons and it really depends on what you’re working on that will define which upscaler you choose to go with.
